What is This Is Grief: On the Road?

A series of free community conversations travelling through Aotearoa in November 2026.

Libraries. Bookshops. Community spaces.

Conversations about grief, loss, love, suicide loss, identity, connection, and what happens when life continues after something has changed it forever.

No lectures, no fixing, Just honest conversation.

Why I’m taking grief on the road

After Kahlia died by suicide in April 2024, I began writing because I didn’t know what else to do with everything that came afterwards.

That writing became books, This Is Grief, and conversations with people who kept saying the same quiet thing:

Me too.

Grief doesn’t live online.

It lives in our homes, our workplaces, our families and our communities.

So this November, I’m taking the conversation there.

Not to fix grief. Not to teach people how to do it properly. Just to make more room for the truth of it.

WHAT TO EXPECT

No lectures. No therapy session. No pressure to share.

ABOUT KIRSTEN

Writer. Grief advocate. Founder of This Is Grief.

My work began after my daughter, Kahlia, died in 2024, and from discovering just how enormous grief is, and how poorly equipped we can be to talk about it.

Since then, I've written books, created grief resources and spaces for connection, and spoken publicly about grief, suicide loss and what it means to live in the after.

I don't come to these conversations as someone with all the answers.

I come as someone who knows what it is to grieve, and believes we need to get much better at talking about it.

THE WORDS BEHIND THE CONVERSATIONS

These books are part of the story that brought This Is Grief onto the road.
