Christmas Isn’t the Same (Holiday Grief Ritual)

When to Use It: Throughout December, especially on Christmas Day, when traditions feel broken and everything aches louder.
Why It Matters: Ritual gives shape to the shapelessness of grief. It allows you to feel without pretending.

Steps:

  1. Create a memory ornament, photo bauble, or grief candle.

  2. Play their favourite holiday song, even if it makes you cry.

  3. Light a candle for them on Christmas morning or night.

  4. Speak one memory or gratitude aloud.

  5. Give yourself permission to do less.

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Hang a special stocking in their honour.

  • Donate a gift in their name.

  • Write them a Christmas letter.

Blessing:
“This season still holds you. Even in the silence. Even in the snow. You are part of every light I see.”
