Grief and the Body (Somatic Ritual)

When to Use It: When grief gets stuck in your chest, throat, or limbs. When your body forgets how to breathe.
Why It Matters: Grief is physical. This is how you remember to be in your body again.

Steps:

  1. Lay on the floor. Feel the ground under you.

  2. Place one hand on your chest, one on your belly.

  3. Breathe in for 4 counts, out for 6. Repeat 5 times.

  4. Stretch slowly. Move how your body wants to move.

  5. Say, “I am still here.”

Optional Add-Ons:

  • Do a slow grief dance to one special song.

  • Practice this each week at the same time.

  • Use essential oils or soft fabrics.

Blessing:
“This body has carried me through the unthinkable. And still, it breathes. And still, it remembers. And still, it moves.”
