When everything is too much, start with one breath.
Grief doesn’t come in neat little boxes.
It shows up all at once, in your bones, your brain, your calendar, your skin.
If you’re here, it might feel like everything is too loud, too fast, too heavy. You don’t have to fix it all.
You don’t have to feel it all right now.
You can begin with one small thing, and even that can be just being here. This space is for when you’re completely full and still expected to carry more.
Let’s set some of it down.
Journal Prompt
If you want to write, here’s a gentle place to begin
What feels like too much right now?
If I listed it out, even messily; could I find one thing I can let go of, even temporarily?
What would I say to the part of me that feels like it’s drowning?Gentle Ritual
If writing feels too much, try something with your hands
The Weighted Breath Practice (2–3 minutes)
Sit down. Both feet on the ground. Hands on your lap, or over your heart.
Inhale for 4 counts.
Hold for 4 counts.
Exhale for 6 counts.
Repeat 3 times.
Whisper (or think):
“I don’t have to carry everything right now. Just this breath. Just this moment.”
Optional: Try This
Or just walk with me for a minute. No pressure, just presence
The One-Thing Walk
Pick one thing to focus on: your steps, a tree, a colour, your breath.
Let that be your anchor for 2 minutes.
If your thoughts race, that’s okay. Come back to the one thing.
Overwhelmed doesn’t mean broken. It just means full.
Please Remember
You are allowed to pause.
You are allowed to rest.
You don’t have to do this all at once.
“You are not required to set yourself on fire to keep others warm”
